How Wireless Handheld Credit Card Processing Can Save Your Business Time and Money
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Gerald_Schiano]Gerald Schiano

If you are in a service business, how often do you invoice someone and wait 30, 60, 90+ days to get paid. How often do you never get paid? Many of you might already appreciate the benefits of accepting Visa/Mastercard, Amex, and Discover, but currently call in/key in credit card transactions. The fact that a physical credit card is not swiped is costing your business money. It is considered a higher risk transaction and your discount rate will be higher on a non-swiped card transaction. The solution that will save your company time and money is the wireless credit card terminal.

Wireless networks have evolved to the point where they are now very comprehensive and cost effective. The following list of professions could benefit substantially from wireless processing: plumbers, locksmiths, taxis, limo’s, pizza delivery, home parties, trade show participants, flea market merchants, contractors, electricians, snow plowing, lawn maintenance and photographers. The list is endless!

We all know that it is much more appetizing to spend a little more money when you use plastic. Credit Cards also make it more possible for an impulse purchase. For example, we are currently quoting an aerial photographer that takes beautiful pictures of homes in New England, then sells the finished product to the homeowner. A wireless terminal will surely increase his business and grab many of those impulse buyers that might not have purchased with cash on hand.

In closing, many industries could benefit from a wireless hand held credit card terminal. As always, do your research before purchasing and demand that your credit card processor educate you on all aspects of your contract!

Credit Card Processing Security Concerns
By Debbie Dragon

As an online merchant accepting credit card payments, you have
numerous security issues that you must be aware of for the
safety of your business and your consumers. At this time, there
are two main aspects of credit card security for credit card
processing, including “AVS” and “CVV”. Both allow credit card
transactions to be completed anonymously over the internet, and
any merchant accepting credit cards online should require both
forms of information of your customers.

Address Verification Service

The “AVS”, or address verification service, is used to
determine that the address provided by a customer matches the
address associated with a credit card account. This helps
generate confidence that the person who is entering the credit
card details is the person who owns it. While the AVS is not
required to process credit card transactions, when it is
provided the transaction processor will send a response back
with details of how much of the address provided matches the
address on the credit card.

A credit card will not be denied if the address is entered
wrong, it is up to the merchant to decide what to do if the
address only matches partially or not at all. You can deny the
sale, or require the buyer submit additional information, or
give them the opportunity to correct the address information,
before processing the transaction.

Card Verification Value

The “CVV”, or card verification value, sometimes referred to as
the CVV-2 is a three to four digit number found on the back of
American Express, MasterCard and Visa cards. It’s on the card
but not on any statements, so that if an individual has found a
credit card statement in the trash, they aren’t able to complete
a sale that requires the CVV code for verification purposes.
When a customer is able to enter the CVV code, it’s a strong
indication that the customer has the credit card in hand, which
increases the potential of the card belonging to the person who
is attempting to use it to make a purchase online.

Most credit card fraud online occurs when a thief has found a
discarded receipt or a thrown out credit card statement, but by
requiring the CVV code, the merchant can eliminate that type of
fraud.

If a CVV number is entered and is incorrect, the transaction
will be declined by the credit card issuer.

Providing Consumers with Top Security

If you are going to accept credit cards online for payment for
products or services offered through your website, it’s
imperative that you provide your customers with a guarantee that
you’re protecting their credit card information.

Credit card processing typically requires that the customer’s
information is transferred about four times, which means there
are four instances when someone could gain access to the
cardholder’s details.
When a customer first sends the credit card information to you
via your checkout or web based form. You are solely responsible
for security as the internet merchant, at this stage in the
credit card transaction process. Having a secure server and a
valid security certificate with the https protocol will protect
and encrypt private information you receive from customers.

You will want to be sure that the credit card transaction
processing software you use for your business is secure by using
a reputable processing company.
As customer information is moved in and out of a database
through the transaction process, the security must be top of the
line- and this is ensured by choosing a solid company that
offers encrypted software for this part of the process.

Finally, when customer credit card information is viewed or
handled by you or your staff, it’s important that you ensure
security at this stage as well.

Guaranteed Credit Cards – Use Them Wisely
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Joseph_Kenny]Joseph Kenny

Credit cards are becoming increasingly vital in a wide range of situations. Have you ever tried to rent a car, or shop online without one? It’s not easy. In fact, with the growth of shopping online, more frequent international travel, and people paying for goods and services over the phone, it is almost vital for an increasing number of people to have access to credit cards.

There are therefore, plenty of valid reasons why anybody would want a credit card these days. Gone are the days when credit cards were seen as the preserve of the rich, or very big spenders, who liked to bankrupt themselves, or spend a fortune on shopping sprees. These days, people need credit cards simply to go about their business without being stuck in situations where they have no methods of payment available to them in an increasing number of situations.

Guaranteed credit cards are a phenomenon that is becoming increasingly popular. It has come to the UK from the United States, as most credit card variations have done. For people with bad credit ratings, guaranteed credit cards are extremely attractive. There are adds on the television, the internet and pretty much everywhere, that guarantee credit cards to everyone that applies for them, regardless of whether or not they seem to be in a position to afford them.

You should approach these offers with great caution. If you think about the steps that most lenders take, you will be forced to become suspicious of guaranteed credit cards. Most lenders carefully assess the risk involved whenever they lend out money. They look at your credit history, how much you earn, how much you owe and many other factors. If they find that you are of high risk, then they will either refuse to lend to you, or change the terms of the credit so that you provide them with extra security or pay higher interest rates or both.

If you hear of credit card providers that seem to be willing to forgo this important step, and simply lend you the money without looking into your finances and credit history at all, then you can be pretty sure that the interest rate will be very high. As well as high interest rates however, there will be other terms and conditions that will be less attractive than usual. You will be subject to very high penalty fees for late payment and these lenders will also be probably very fast to refer you to debt collection agencies. Therefore, if you do opt for this, then be careful, and use the card wisely.

Buying Credit Card Terminals
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Kent_Pinkerton]Kent Pinkerton

A credit card terminal is an indispensable device for your business. Major features of a credit card terminal are its price, speed, and reliability. There are three major types of terminals - traditional, wireless, and virtual. Each of them has its own features and functions. Modern credit card terminals require electricity and telephone lines. The price of a basic terminal ranges between $150 and $300. Terminals with printers vary from $200 to $600. For wireless terminals, the cost is ranges from $600 to $1,000. AVS (address verification system) is a standard feature on most credit card terminals- so it is advisable not to buy a terminal without it. While purchasing wireless terminals, important factors to be considered are battery life, weight, range, and shock-resistance.

Credit card terminals are perfect for businesses of all sizes. They come in different models. Businesses already using credit card terminals need to buy extra equipments to maintain additional services such as debit card transactions and issuing and accepting gift cards. Always keep your terminals clean. Dust, crumbs, and especially paper lint can quickly block printers and gum up stripe readers.

If you choose to buy your credit card terminal online, do some preparatory research at the outset. You should consider shipping charges and any other hidden costs involved. It is a good idea to compare prices online. Also, check the warranty and customer care services. You may also consider upgrading your existing machine rather than buying a totally new one. It is advisable that you go through online reviews from knowledgeable sources. Credit Card Processing
By [http://www.i-CreditCardProcessing.com]Thomas Morva

Nowadays, almost all establishments accept credit card payments. This is because many consumers make their purchases using their credit cards, and establishments who do not accept credit card payments risks losing potential sales. Given this, it is then essential for any company that intends to sell products in the market to make sure that their stores can accept credit payments. There’s good news, though! Today, accepting credit cards is usually a fairly easy process because companies can gain access to the tools that they need to be able to process credit card payments from a number of sources.

Setting up a merchant account

The first step in accepting credit cards is setting up a merchant account. This will involve locating the right merchant account provider or credit card processor. Many businesses do this through the banks where they do their business banking. However, not all banks provide credit card processing services.

A good source of information is any trade associations that a business belongs to, which may have negotiated rates with a certain credit card processor that the business could contact. Another good source of leads is from other businesses that already accept credit card payments. On the other hand, given that most processors aggressively pursue clients especially start up companies, it is most likely that these processors will contact new business owners and offer them their services.

In deciding on which credit card processor to use, it is a good idea to employ canvassing strategies, which includes interviewing each credit processor and asking them questions that can help business owners pick the right processor. Some of these questions include asking them about their fees, their rates, and other services that they provide their clients. After which, business owners then should analyze which processor can give them the best deal for the credit card processing services that they are offering.

Nowadays, no business establishment should be without credit card processing capabilities. This is because given that most people make many of their purchases using their credit cards, establishments that do not accept credit card payments risk losing a significant number of sales. The good news is that today, the tools that businesses need to be able to accept credit card payments, which includes merchant accounts, are easily accessible, as there are a large number of companies that provide credit card processing services. Online Credit Card Account Access
By Adam Goldman

Credit cards, the Internet and online services all pave the
path towards a new era of technological advancements and
commercialised lifestyles. Nowadays, you won’t have to fly
halfway around the world or drive across town to purchase
authentic gifts for a loved one. Instead, you can just order it
online at home. Your gift will be wrapped and delivered right to
your door step. All you need is a secure connection, a working
credit card account and a little understanding of how to manage
an online account.

In fact, if you find it hard to keep your bills in order or
can’t find the time to drop in at the bank, then having an
online credit card account is the best way to solve your
problems. With this, you can actually manage all your finances
without you ever leaving your office, or even your desk. You
can make instant payments on the spot, check past transactions
easily and immediately print statements that would regularly
take weeks to get to your mailbox.

With all this convenience, anyone is bound to worry about the
security of having an online credit card account. If you are
able to access your account with your name, ID or a simple
password, it is possible for a thief who has the right
combination of these elements to access to your account. Thus,
it is important that you do not give out your personal
information to strangers or even callers over the phone.

Also, before you enter any sensitive information on your
browser, ensure that your browser is a secured browser that
utilizes Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) that encrypts data before
transmitting it to the server. Most banking websites utilize
secured web pages indicated by a locked padlock sign at the
bottom of the browser. Naturally, credit card users are advised
to not make financial transactions over public computers. Online
access can be a godsend to most of us who lead a busy lifestyle
but if we are not careful, we may lose our finances and
property to thieving scoundrels at the click of a mouse.
